Sierra Leone — Offshore hydrocarbon survey
Atlantic offshore hydrocarbon survey delivered as a Blind Survey — anomalies identified directly from Stage-2 detailed remote-sensing without prior oil samples, chemical-composition data or well data. Used to select legacy 2D seismic lines for reprocessing, where the mapped traps lined up with the previously identified anomalies.
Objective
Screen Atlantic-offshore acreage for hydrocarbon anomalies in a depth range up to 5,000 m, with no calibration samples available — a Blind Survey / Frontier Exploration scenario.
Approach
Step-2 detailed remote survey applied directly without prior oil samples or well data, using POISK's proprietary reference libraries and archived calibration data. Areas and locations of identified anomalies were used to select the legacy 2D seismic lines crossing them, with the seismic data reprocessed and dynamically analysed.
Outcome
Mapped offshore hydrocarbon traps from the reprocessed 2D seismic aligned with the previously identified RS-NMR anomalies. Dynamic analysis of representative lines confirmed the anti-traps proved by the survey. The Blind Survey approach substantially reduced offshore exploration evaluation cost vs a seismic-led workflow.
