Experience in the practical use of the "POISK" complex equipment for determining the boundaries of oil-and-gas-bearing areas and selecting points for drilling wells
N. I. Kovalev, V. A. Gokh, P. N. Ivashchenko, S. V. Soldatova
Geoinformatika, Issue 4
ISSN 1684-2189
Reviews the use of Earth remote-sensing equipment and direct-method contouring of hydrocarbon deposits to depths of 5,000 m. Methods are presented for identification, delineation and preliminary express-evaluation of recoverable hydrocarbon reserves from the measured geophysical characteristics of reservoirs. Practical work confirms that the developed remote-method workflow simplifies drilling-point selection.

About the mechanism of formation of volume explosions and detonation of hydrocarbon gas in coal mines
N. I. Kovalev, V. A. Pukhliy, S. V. Soldatova
Innovative Development of Modern Science (collected papers, conference proceedings, Ufa), pp. 153–162
UDC 550-837.3
Analyses self-ignition, volumetric explosions and detonation of hydrocarbon-gas mixtures in coal mines. A method for detecting high-pressure (>100 kg/cm²) accumulations of hydrocarbon gases under coal seams is described, with preventive measures proposed.
Available on request - 2015HydrocarbonsCase study
Experience of forecasting geological research of hydrocarbon anomalies with the help of remote resonance-test equipment of the geophysical complex "POISK"
N. I. Kovalev, G. A. Belyavsky
Institute of Nuclear Energy and Industry, Sevastopol State University
UDC 550.837.3
Reports the use of POISK deep-Earth-sounding equipment for remote search and direct-method delineation of hydrocarbon-deposit areas to depths of up to 6,000 m, including reservoir-rock porosity. Practical work confirms effective drilling-point selection at depths up to 6 km.
Available on request - 2016HydrocarbonsMethodologyCase study
Application of the remote geophysical complex "POISK". Solution of engineering and geological prospecting tasks (monograph, 5 parts)
N. I. Kovalev, V. A. Pukhliy, S. V. Soldatova
Lambert Academic Publishing, Düsseldorf
ISBN 978-3-659-60461-4
Comprehensive monograph on the use of the POISK remote-geophysical complex for engineering and geological prospecting. Covers identification and delineation of hydrocarbon anomalies, depth and porosity measurement before drilling, and applied case studies including Black Sea coastal cleanup of dumped ammunition and chemical weapons.

Natural sea-water desalinators in the territory of the Crimea and the Russian Federation
N. I. Kovalev, S. V. Soldatova, L. I. Lukina
Sevastopol State University, Russian Federation
Reports the discovery and characterisation of natural sea-water desalination systems formed by secondary magmatic foci of extinct volcanoes in coastal regions. Includes proposals for use and recommendations for environmental protection.
Available on request - 2016Groundwater
Results of studying the mechanism of formation of underground fresh water near secondary magmatic focals of extinct volcanoes
N. I. Kovalev, V. A. Pukhliy, S. V. Soldatova
Sevastopol State University, Russian Federation
Reports the use of POISK deep-Earth-sounding equipment for remote search and contouring of groundwater accumulations and sources, including possible debit, temperature and salinity. Examines the link between groundwater sources and zones of past volcanic activity across multiple regions.
